First instance, our dog was diagnosed with bone cancer by Banfield Pet Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. We spent several thousand dollars on blood testing and x-rays at Banfield and their official diagnosis was bone cancer. We took our dog to a second veterinarian that took one x-ray and said the dog had a sprained ankle. 2 weeks later our dog was running in the backyard like nothing had ever happened. I should have learned my lesson then........ but, I did not.

I would not recommend Banfield Pet Hospital in Chesterfield, MO to my worst enemy. Twice in 12 months my dog was diagnosed by this pet hospital with a terminal illness. On both instances we took our dog to a second vet for a second opinion. Both times the second vet rejected Banfield's diagnosis. See details below.
Since this we now use a local vet (not a part of a pet store chain) that collects and analyzes all of the necessary tests and data before diagnosing a family member with a terminal illness.
The second instance I took my dog in for a routine check up. She was diagnosed with kidney failure. This was before the vet had even taken a urine sample. The next day we took a urine sample to Banfield and they retracted there previous diagnosis and her new diagnosis was a urinary track infection. I was given a prescription for the UTI and now once again my dog is as healthy as a bird with working kidneys.
